Deforestation of the Amazon

I don't own this,I saw this on a blog in Brazil,and thought it was very important to show all over the world what can happen to our world if this continues.Remember always,Amazon is called the worlds Lung, and what happens with ourselfs when we destroy us with cigarres,smoke,and all these things? We end up dying...so,read this,and,help Ian Somerhalder Foundation take action!!

This news throws one more time to debate the question of the Amazon. The lungs of the world, continues to be destroyed without the devastating global consequences are considered. From time to time the political situation becomes delicate contours, speaking on the issue of internationalization of the Amazon as a way to protect that territory that has suffered from looting. If the current rate of deforestation continues, the end of this century, the Amazon could be reduced to 5% of its current size. The main incentives for deforestation are opening new land for cultivation, creation of land for grazing cattle and the use of wood for construction. Ironically, the environmental argument has been widely used to justify the deforestation of large tracts of territory, since replacing the trees is planted sugar cane. Thus, Brazil reduces its dependence on fossil fuels, which are non-renewable resources, for the sugar cane that is turned into ethanol used as fuel in cars.

Consequences of deforestation: The Amazon presents an unparalleled biodiversity on the planet. It is estimated that there are still many undiscovered species, but at the current pace of exploitation about 30 species become extinct every day. Intensive farming causes soil erosion, the risk of becoming infertile rapidly, leading to its abandonment and desertification. Soil sealing means that there is less water that can evaporate, thus there is less rain and humidity. This problem reaches global proportions, as the clouds caused by the evaporation of part of the forest deflect sunlight and help to control the thermal regulation of the planet. That is part of the problem of global warming is derived from the forest without cutting rules.

The best way to avoid deforestation is not only the repression of offenders, but also provide methods for the local population to derive added value of preserving nature. In certain places in Africa, this has been achieved through eco-tourism and environmental reserves. If people see that one can earn more with protecting the environment than their destruction, will be the first guarantees the preservation of the countryside as he is. Pharmaceutical companies can also take a lot of value the preservation of the Amazon, through the investigation of existing biodiversity, for the production of new drugs.
